GOODS has two meanings. Firstly, it is our guide to innovative objects from Perth and around the world, and secondly, GOODS can't be bad. A resource for gift buyers, home-makers, scene-stealers, trend-watchers and possibly even shoplifters, GOODS isn't about making your credit card cry, it's about setting your standards high.
Hey you! Yes, you over there. Feeling lonely? Yearning for canine companionship? Rental agreements restricting you from getting a pooch, or perhaps you're just too lazy to clean up after a furry little bundle of joy? Pug Couples to the rescue!
Yes, that's right folks, for under fifty bucks you could have yourself not one, but two PVC pug puppies.
The distant future...The distant future. We'll all be wearing silver suits and white glasses, even if we don't need glasses. Our eyes will have a silvery sheen, or ‘iSheen', and it will have a billion downloadable face applications, or ‘fapps'. And we will most certainly be drinking fruit juice that is under high pressure.
'Let's play pretend' is one of the best games around. From childhood ("I'll be the doctor, you be the dead guy") to karaoke ("I'll be Beyonce, you can be Jay-Z"), to present day ("Let's go mind your mum's house and pretend that we're rich"). There's nothing like walking in someone else's shoes/scrubs/weave for a day.
Winter seems to have crept up on us in the thick of the night. When one day we were frivolous and fancy free in our flimsy summer fripperies, the next we found ourselves willing the better part of a sheep onto our backs to ward off the sub-20 temperatures (although we will continue to wear sandals for weeks in silent protest).
Watching Arnold Schwarzenegger flying to the aid of his son, decked out as Turbo Man with a built in jet pack, in the 1996 Christmas classic Jingle All the Way, was truly a beautiful moment.
While once, only in the movies could that kind of crazy thing happen, now a New Zealand-based company is ready to make it a reality, having been developing a real jetpack for the past thirty years.
Word on the street is that Sydney-based designer Dion Lee is the next big thing in fashion. He only graduated a couple of years ago, but he's already got four stand-out collections under his belt, debuted at RAFW, and he won the LMFF 2010 Designer Award last month.
He has wooed fashion bloggers the world over with his engineering genius and sculptural nous.
'The Google' can tell you anything. Seriously, type in any question and some genius will have answered it in a forum or on a blog somewhere. Go on, try it. You can learn anything from how to have an affair, to how to unlock a car with a mobile phone. Or, how to pay permanent homage to your favourite band, shape or swear word, on your body.
