Also, we try and make things make sense in 200 words or less so that you can just listen to the music.
Relayted, 'Gayngs'
Generic hip-hop and R&B - with its brutish materialism, overbearing sexuality, and relentless bravado - is super fucking fun to listen to sometimes. For us dorks, it's a snapshot into a world we seldom inhabit, of un-self conscious emotions, where self-centeredness and gluttony needn't be shameful things.
TTT, 'Lands'
TTT have had a change of heart lately. The band formerly known as Tic Toc Tokyo has shed the post-punk trappings and embraced a fuller sound. Lands, their debut LP, has placed an emphasis firmly on the rhythm section, trusting in masterful bass and drum to carry the weight of TTT's far-reaching songs.
Lakes, 'Solar Flecks'
Solar Flecks is possibly the most unified collection of pieces yet assembled by Sean Bailey. As Lakes, his music is relentlessly challenging, using analogue keyboards, tape recordings and weird percussion to make undeniably creative constructions.
First track 'Energy Garden' baits listeners with an intriguingly layered orchestration.
Titus Andronicus, ‘The Monitor'
Chucking on VHS tapes of The Civil War miniseries was a Year 12 History Lesson back in the day, watching countless photos of dead Yankee and Confederate soldiers scored to mournful violins and rat-ta-tat drums. The Titus Andronicus' album The Monitor charges out the gate with a new soundtrack to the American Civil War, trampling any armchair historian underfoot with its literary-punk-rock-thunder.

Levins done gone made us a mixtape! Who is Levins, you ask? Well, he's that smiley guy from around the way. You probably know him. But just in case, we asked him a few questions:
1. How long have you been putting on parties?
I've been putting on parties since I was 18 - so seven years! I used to put on all ages shows in warehouse and galleries with noisy punk bands and shit, I'd DJ in between all the bands.
Ivy St, Oh Their Faces / Talk To Strangers 7"
Hobart trio Ivy St. truly conjure the desolate atmosphere that Australian bands conjure best. The strangled opening notes of Oh Their Faces instill the creeping notion that this rural excursion is about to takean ominous turn. Enter tumbling drums and an unruly guitar rabble that soon becomes sustained, roaring discord.

We've said it before and we'll say it again - Mountain Fold Music Journal is the bomb. It's free, it's easy on the eyes, it teaches you things and it's put together by some fine people - most of all Douglas Lance Gibson. Issue 04 is out now, full of features about interesting musicians you either love unconditionally or are somewhat ashamed to admit you've never heard of - like Marco Fusinato.
