Skype is good for lots of things. Virtual dates, calling people sans credit, designing an entire haute couture collection. Well, that last one was obviously a joke. A complex task like that (especially when you're gunning for LMFF) is not something you can do via pixelated visuals and delayed audio.

If you've been to Melbourne minimal/experimental duo Fabulous Diamonds' Myspace recently, you'll notice that their profile picture of choice is a shot someone's taken of their Seven Songs album cover (the one with the girl holding the dude with the hairy back) stuck up over a A0 poster for Perth design night Serif, on that brick wall near North Perth Milk'd.

If Home Improvement re-runs and 2L bottles of Coke are proving too much fun these holidays, we've found something a little more stimulating. Better yet, your body can stay just as immobile: it's your mind that will get fitter. If you're anything like me, the thought of wrapping your mush around a hunk of bread dipped in lard doesn't exactly get the salivary juices flowing. Luckily (or unluckily), you don't live in rural Poland.
I'll let you in on a little secret, Polish food is not only delicious but brimming with dietary benefits.

When I first saw The Ghost of 29 Megacycles play, one of them was wearing an animal mask, some weird Alejandro Jodoworsky movie was projected behind them, and their brooding ambient noise was completely absorbing. All I could compare it to was that bit in The Shining where Shelly Duvall witnesses the ghost of a man in a bear suit going down on an upper-class toff in a tuxedo.

These days, I think a lot of guys are upping the ante when it comes to fashion. This is cool - it means I'm no longer the best dressed in the room.
When Dilettante first opened it brought with it some of the best Australian and European labels around, taking up a two floor warehouse apartment space, with a wall of fake ivy and bird noises.
