Now that the bandages are slowly peeling off Northbridge's facelift and the swelling is going down after the punch of losing favourites like Harry Highpants and LaLaOrange, William St is starting to look pretty hot again. How hot? Well, there's a new cultural space, a Bird that's deffo learnt how to fly and a neato café not gladwrapped in commercial stink.

You know when you go on a date and your date tries really hard to impress you? Dropping random cultural references into the conversation to appear educated. Overdressing. Underdressing. Refusing to have salad dressing ("I'm super health conscious"). Recently, Dilettante took us out on a fancy date and totally pulled out the big guns: first they rock up in a nude shirtdress, then it was talk of 90s London and Tokyo tailoring.

Friends, let us pray. All powerful and everloving God, through whom all things were made, thank you for giving us the music of PVT, for it truly is the soundtrack of our hearts. Look into the 'Window' of our soul, O Lord, and bless these three skinny nerds and their sonic awesomeness. Where once PVT took the vow of silence, now they have spoken, and are seated in the heavenly company of Battles and Grizzly Bear.

Since 1984 the TED group have hunted the best of the Technology, Entertainment and Design worlds, and forced them to spill the beans on innovation. Time passed and big-brained freaks from various fields began volunteering their voices to the cause without the handcuffs. TEDdies have since released the talks online, believing ideas are 'worth spreading'.

In a small town like Perth, ‘What goes around comes around', as they say, right? The Rounds project consists of 9 artists handing work to each other in a round, for 4 rounds and now that Hatched has finished exhibiting its spring chicken graduate artists, the Rounds will be circling the spaces of PICA in June.
Call it post-rock, call it noise music, call it sonic experimentation... to me, they're always soundtracks for unmade films. Gilbert Fawn (a.k.a Matthew Aitken of Ghost of 29 Megacycles) likes his movies too; heck, he organised a backyard film festival that featured Dennis Hopper fishing.
Listening to the new Fawn album Dead Rhythm, my film nerd mind went directly to Harrison Ford instead.
With rental prices jumping every time the Reserve Bank manager takes a piss, finding cash for matching furniture or fancy threads is hard to come by. Whilst hunting for a cheaper alternative at the tip, op shop, or roadside verge is an attractive-yet shameful option, the urine smell is often hard to remove.
