If you're anything like me, the thought of wrapping your mush around a hunk of bread dipped in lard doesn't exactly get the salivary juices flowing. Luckily (or unluckily), you don't live in rural Poland.
I'll let you in on a little secret, Polish food is not only delicious but brimming with dietary benefits.

When I first saw The Ghost of 29 Megacycles play, one of them was wearing an animal mask, some weird Alejandro Jodoworsky movie was projected behind them, and their brooding ambient noise was completely absorbing. All I could compare it to was that bit in The Shining where Shelly Duvall witnesses the ghost of a man in a bear suit going down on an upper-class toff in a tuxedo.
These days, I think a lot of guys are upping the ante when it comes to fashion. This is cool - it means I'm no longer the best dressed in the room.
When Dilettante first opened it brought with it some of the best Australian and European labels around, taking up a two floor warehouse apartment space, with a wall of fake ivy and bird noises.
What's up with all the polished white arcades in Perth? The Plaza Arcade revamp, the new echo chamber above the self-serve Woollies... Surely there's more to a valuable shopping experience than dentist-clean terrazzo? Well, there is. Holed up in the Plaza Arcade you'll find Infusion coffee. Instantly noticeable at least twenty metres away care of the thick, soporific caffeiney musk, and the pulsing drum ‘n' bass, it's basically a narcoleptic's nightmare.

Although credited as ‘the little pancake' by a bizarrely intoxicated Zach Condon from Beirut (when supporting the band in Sydney earlier in the year), Pikelet goes above and beyond what a small runny pile of eggy goo in your frying pan could amount to. Growing up in Melbs suburbia, Evelyn Morris probs made stacks of pikelets for brekkie, but now she just makes rad sounds with accordians, guitars and pedals, and trots around supporting types like Sufjan, Jens, and Camera Obscura.

Do you know what a great night in Berlin is all about? Neither do we, but according to global quality of life surveys, it ultimately involves going back to an apartment for which someone is paying very cheap rent and utilities. Look into it, god knows 2009 was a tough year all round. Anyway, Berlin's bringing a taste of the good life right here to Perth with their annual Beck's Berlin Sessions party this Friday.

One time I cast my eyes up to the giant LED screen in Fed Square in Melbs. I thought, ‘man, why doesn't Perth have a giant screen in a public space somewhere that's always playing stuff'? One year passes. BAM! Permanent LED screen, and a new Piazza, on the corner of James and Lake St. That's right, I'm magic.
